I work as an editor/writer/media manager in the Midwest of the United States (closest metropolis: Chicago). I have been writing about music for most of my life. One of my first professional writing experiences was with Rolling Stone in the mid-80s. I reported on the Midwest music scene for RS while I was attending college. Rolling Stone eventually offered me a job in its New York office, which I declined in favor of studying my literary hero, W.B. Yeats, in Ireland.

After my studies in Ireland, I returned to the United States and wrote music columns for a number of newspapers and music publications, as well as did some copyediting and news writing for newspapers. Realizing that I was never going to make any money as a journalist, I switched careers and became a managing editor for a book publisher. My years in book publishing were extremely rewarding and satisfying. I worked with interesting authors and publishers all over the world.

A few years ago, I established a media agency with a good friend. We manage creative projects for musicians, artists, and charities. We've spent a lot of time developing our contact list because it's not what you know, it's who you know! We know a lot of people.

I currently write for an obscene amount of music web sites and publications. I have hobby sites that I enjoy writing and spending time at too. Last.fm is my favorite.
